Mano (Hand Kissing): Filipinos’ sign of respect

Pagmamano or hand kissing or placing an elderly’s hand on the forehead along while uttering the words “MANO PO” is still a strong culture to Filipinos worldwide. Young individual show their respect to an elderly through “Pagmamano” as they greet them when they arrive home, after a prayer, after the mass and more. On the other hand, hand kissing was also once a practice by Filipino men to show their respect to women. However, this is already rarely done these days, as more and more young individuals are adopting the modern practice and find kissing a lady’s hand a thing of yesterday.
